This is a highly prized superfine rice variety. Created in 1945 by crossing the "Vialone" and "Lencino" varieties, it has a very elongated body and a slightly sweet flavor. It holds its shape well after cooking, requiring a few minutes longer than other rice varieties. It has a low tendency to lose starch during cooking and is well-suited to absorbing liquids during stirring.
